Have you ever told yourself or someone else that “if” you could, you would buy something special for every child in need or you would give to help someone else if you had the means to do so?
Well I have heard many many many people say those type of things to me when they would hear about someone who had a need or about a charity seeking support. I am sharing this because I want people to understand that it isn’t about being rich and able to hand out buckets of supplies for all who have a need.
That would actually be fun for a little bit, but as soon as the people just expect you to be there to buy them clothes or food or pay for their gas and rent, the fun dims and the feeling of being used kicks in a bit. That is especially true when the people you see helping refuse to get a job, or complain all the time and see everything from a tainted glass half empty viewpoint.
I love to help people that will never know it was me, and never be able to give me the credit or praise, but instead can give the glory to God where it belongs.
Doing things in secret to bless others is really the only wise way to do it, because of the reasons I mentioned and a few others like that is what the Scriptures say to do. ‘Give in secret not allowing your right hand to know what the left hand is doing.’ Such charity comes with great rewards from God, but telling everyone about what you did will be your only reward if you choose that path.
I desire eternal rewards that come from being well pleasing to my Heavenly Father rather than the short lived fame from people who will love you one minute and be ready to throw you off a cliff before the hour passes!
That is what they did to Jesus. They loved him when he was speaking what they wanted to hear, but when his words would hit too close to home, they wanted to throw him off the edge of the cliff. We still do that today when we don’t have things our way.
But what if we gave away all that we owned and ran after Jesus? Lol That really is a thing that people can do and find great abundance of the riches of Heaven for daily life walking as One new man in Jesus.
What do you live for? What are you willing to die for? There are many noble causes and worthy ways to spend your life and money, but when you have nothing but yourself to give, you are able to see the hearts of others and experience the fullness of the blessing, because you get all of God in exchange for your nothing.
Is your life empty and seemingly going nowhere? There is One who can turn that all around for you if you are interested in living a better life that has true purpose and is rewarding beyond earthly materials.
When the Lord says your name, GO! When He points someone out to you, GO! When He is silent to you, Praise Him!!!
