“However, I say to you, love your enemy, bless the one who curses you, do something wonderful for the one who hates you, and respond to the very ones who persecute you by praying for them. For that will reveal your identity as children of your heavenly Father. He is kind to all by bringing the sunrise to warm and rainfall to refresh whether a person does what is good or evil. What reward do you deserve if you only love the loveable? Don’t even the tax collectors do that? How are you any different from others if you limit your kindness only to your friends? Don’t even the ungodly do that?”
Matthew 5:44-47 TPT
Everyone will experience opposition, betrayal or unfair treatment at some point in life, but how we respond is what will make or break us. Instead of giving up or walking away frustrated, begin to seek God’s will for the situation and ask Him what you can do to be a blessing and help. It won’t be nearly as painful as dwelling on all the awful things that have happened to you, and it will keep you from falling into the enemies trap or snare.
To slander others because they hurt you, will only create more evil, but to pray and bless the ones who hurt you will make a way for God to change their heart and cause them to change the way they think and behave.
Loving others is the goal and the gold that must be produced to continue spiritual growth. The way to deeper understanding and a closer relationship with the Lord is simply by doing what He says to do in His Word.
