There are many books and stories that cover the teachings of the Bible. There are millions of churches that hold services weekly in order to share the Truth and help the people grow in understanding of the ways of God and His Kingdom, but there is truly only one thing that is necessary for people to grasp in its fullness and that is LOVE.
Love is the currency of Heaven. God is Love. The definition of love in the Bible is this:
If this is the definition given by Paul in his letter to the Corinthians, I think it is fair to believe that it is accurate.
God is Love, and He has loved us with a perfect love.
Jesus told his disciples that he was leaving them with this commandment:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. “
John 15:12
Why did Jesus command them to do this?
So that the world would know who the disciples of Jesus are. It would be clear to the world that all who love one another like Jesus, are the disciples of Jesus.
If you don’t have love for one another, you are not a disciple of Jesus, because he commanded that his disciples love one another.
My point in sharing this is to help those that have not yet known the Father’s great love for them.
If love is patient and kind and always protects, trusts, hopes and believes, while not being proud or arrogant and not envying or boasting, but rejoicing at the truth and not holding any wrongdoing against anyone, but forgiving all, then I think it is safe to assume that our Heavenly Father is deserving of all of our love and attention!
He sent His Righteous Son to die for all of our wrongs, and know that we can be reconciled through that ultimate sacrifice that paid for all of the wrongs ever done by the people on this earth. We are granted access back into the family of God when we turn to Jesus and ask for him to become our savior and cover us in his righteousness and cleanse us in his pure blood.
We are then made clean and back in right standing with God, so we can go to Him for help and for companionship and greater understanding of His Kingdom.
We truly can’t fully grasp how great the love of the Father is until we begin to walk with Him and He reveals His heart to us for the hurting and broken people suffering all around the world.
When people eagerly seek to be closer to God, they often forget that they can find Him with the lowly. They might experience an aspect of Him at church, but until they pour themselves out to the homeless, the orphans, the broken and imprisoned in our society, they will never truly know the love of God in its fullness.
Isaiah 58:10-12 English Standard Version (ESV)
10
if you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness
and your gloom be as the noonday.
11
And the Lord will guide you continually
and satisfy your desire in scorched places
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters do not fail.
12
And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorer of streets to dwell in.
His mercies are relentless for his creation, but the people that are considered his friends are those that are led with love to do good at any cost to themselves.
This isn’t to chastise or cause anyone shame. If you attend church weekly and seek to do good and not harm in the world, than you are on the right track.
There was one more important detail that Jesus put above loving others and that was to love God with all that you are and have.
With those two things you can transform your world to a place of beauty. Will it cost you a great deal of suffering, yes, because not all the world is able to grasp the depths of love that come from God. They will reject you and lock you out of what their plans are, because they don’t see through the eyes of love yet, but when you walk with God and you ask Him to open the eyes of the blind, He does it. In fact, He is able to do all that we ask of Him, and He wants to do so much more than most people are asking Him to do right now.
He told me to “pray bigger” when I first began my walk with Him.
He said that after I asked Him to save one child a night from sex trafficking or sexual abuse. He actually rescued around 185 children that weekend from sex trafficking, and afterwards, He whispered “I want to save more than one a day”.
He is whispering to you today, “Come closer and don’t be ashamed or afraid. I have loved you with an everlasting love, and I will help you through anything that you are facing.”
