If someone searches the phrase “unexpected pregnancy” on the internet today, they are likely to find abortion presented as the first solution, adoption as the second, and parenting somewhere after that.
I want to speak honestly and lovingly to anyone facing an unexpected pregnancy, regardless of age, background, or marital status.
First, it is important to understand this:
The life growing inside of you is human life. That child carries unique DNA, and part of that DNA is yours. From the very beginning, a life connected to you is forming inside your womb.
That can feel overwhelming. It can feel frightening. But fear should never be the thing that determines the value of a human life.
Many people facing unexpected pregnancies feel pressure from every direction. Fear of finances. Fear of judgment. Fear of not being ready. Fear of how life may change.
But what if the very thing you did not plan is not a punishment at all? What if it is part of a greater purpose you cannot yet see?
We often speak about “choice,” but we rarely speak about responsibility. If a pregnancy was not planned, what actions led to it? At some point, we must honestly acknowledge that our choices have consequences, and human life should never be treated as disposable simply because it arrives at an inconvenient time.
There is also something deeply inconsistent in our culture when it comes to the value of children. Society recognizes the murder of a child outside the womb as a terrible crime, yet many encourage ending life inside the womb as a first solution to hardship. That contradiction should cause all of us to pause and think carefully.
I also want to ask another question:
If pregnancy is possible by God’s design, could it be that He knew you were capable of being a mother before you ever believed it yourself?
Did God say only people who feel ready deserve children?
Did He say human life only matters if someone wants it?
I do not believe so.
Women have been given the incredible ability to carry and nurture life, but that does not make us the creators of life itself. It means we have been entrusted with something sacred.
In the beginning, God told humanity to “be fruitful and multiply.” Life was never meant to be viewed as a burden or interruption. Children are not accidents to God.
And yet, I also want to say this clearly:
This is not written to condemn anyone.
Every single one of us has sinned. Every one of us has made painful, selfish, fearful, or broken choices at some point in life. There is only one true Judge and Lawgiver, and that is God Himself.
The incredible message of the Gospel is not condemnation, but redemption.
Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.
He willingly laid down His life to carry our shame, our failures, our guilt, and our sin so we could be forgiven and restored to relationship with God. That kind of love is beyond human understanding.
Scripture says there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others.
Because of that love, no person is beyond forgiveness. No woman is beyond hope. No pregnancy is beyond God’s ability to redeem and bring beauty from.
If you are facing an unexpected pregnancy and feel afraid or alone, I encourage you to stop for a moment and pray honestly:
“God, if You are real, help me. Show me what to do. Lead me forward.”
He hears sincere cries for help.
Jesus is not waiting to condemn you. He is waiting to heal, guide, restore, and love you. He can carry burdens no human being was meant to carry alone.
When you surrender your fears, wounds, shame, trauma, and mistakes to Him, something beautiful happens. You begin to understand your worth, your purpose, and the depth of God’s love for you.
You no longer have to live controlled by fear or by the opinions of others. You begin to live knowing you are deeply loved by God.
And that changes everything.
